Terms of Service

1. Who we are and accepting these Terms
7Degreez ("7Degreez", "we", "us") is operated by Junzi Tech Solutions LLC. 7Degreez runs a website and mobile apps (the "Service") where people who own cars ("Hosts") rent them to people who need one ("Renters"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who can use 7Degreez
- You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account.
- To book a car you must hold a valid driver's licence and pass our identity and licence check. The check is run by our verification provider, Persona: you photograph your licence and take a selfie, and a 7Degreez operator may review the result.
- Each Host sets a minimum driver age for their car (for example 25). You cannot book a car whose minimum age you do not meet on the day of pickup, checked against the date of birth on file.
- Once your identity is approved you cannot change your date of birth yourself; contact support and an operator will correct a genuine mistake.
- You must give accurate information and keep it current. One person, one account. You are responsible for everything done through your account and for keeping your sign-in details safe.
- We may refuse or suspend an account that fails verification or breaks these Terms (see section 10).
3. What 7Degreez does, and what it doesn't
7Degreez is a marketplace. The rental agreement for each trip is between the Host and the Renter; 7Degreez is not a party to it, does not own the cars and is not a rental company. 7Degreez provides the tools around the trip: listings and search, booking, payment collection, the photo handover record, messaging, reviews and dispute handling.
Hosts are responsible for their cars: that they are roadworthy, registered, free of open safety recalls and described accurately. 7Degreez does not inspect cars.
4. Booking, price and payment
Booking. Some cars book instantly; for others you send a request and the Host has 24 hours to accept. A request the Host declines, or does not answer in time, ends with nothing charged and the dates freed.
Price. Before you confirm you see the full price: the daily rate (which can vary by date) times the days, less any weekly or monthly discount, plus the cleaning fee, delivery fee if you chose delivery, your protection plan, 7Degreez's service fee and applicable taxes, at the rates shown to you at checkout. The price is set by the Service at booking and does not change afterwards, except for the return charges in section 6 and dispute amounts in section 7.
Paying. You need a card saved with our payment processor, Stripe, to book. 7Degreez never sees or stores your card number, only its brand, last four digits and expiry. By booking you authorise us to charge that card as follows:
| When | What happens on your card |
|---|---|
| At booking | Nothing is charged. |
| Pickup within 7 days | The trip total may be authorised (held). |
| 24 hours before pickup | The trip total is charged, and the security deposit (the amount shown at checkout) is authorised. |
| At return | Return charges, if any, are charged separately. |
| 72 hours after return | The deposit hold is released, unless a dispute is open (section 7). |
If a charge fails, we will tell you and try again on a card you add. A card authorisation expires after about seven days, so we may renew the deposit hold during a longer trip. Payments are also subject to Stripe's terms.
5. Cancellations and refunds
Each listing has one of three cancellation policies, shown on the car page and at checkout. What you get back depends on when you cancel, measured from the pickup time:
| Policy | Full refund if you cancel at least | Cancel later, before pickup | After pickup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flexible | 24 hours before | 50% refunded | No refund |
| Moderate | 72 hours before | 50% refunded | No refund |
| Strict | 7 days before | 50% refunded | No refund |
Refunds go back to the card you paid with; your bank decides how long that takes. If the Host cancels a confirmed trip, you get a full refund.
6. The trip
Handover record. At pickup and at return the car is photographed in the app from eight set angles, with the odometer and fuel level. The record opens 24 hours before pickup. Once sealed it cannot be changed: it is time-stamped, fingerprinted, and countersigned by the other party. Both of you rely on it for the car's condition, mileage and fuel.
Using the car. Only the verified Renter drives, within the listing's rules (pets, smoking, trip length, delivery area) and the law. Return it on time, to the agreed place, in the condition you received it apart from normal wear.
Return charges. When the return is sealed, the Service works out and charges to your card:
- miles over the included allowance, at the listing's per-mile rate;
- fuel or charge below the pickup level;
- a late return.
These are charged on their own and do not come out of the deposit. A listing's smoking fee is shown on the listing but not charged automatically; a Host claims it through a dispute.
7. Damage disputes
A Host can open a dispute while the trip is under way or within 72 hours of the sealed return, for an amount they name, with photos and an account of what happened. Only one dispute per trip can be open at a time.
- The Renter is notified and can answer with their own photos and account. Each side speaks once.
- A 7Degreez operator reviews both sides and the handover records, and decides: charge the Renter an amount up to what was asked, decide for the Renter, or reject the dispute.
- An approved amount is taken from the deposit hold; anything above the deposit is charged to the Renter's card. The rest of the hold is released.
The deposit stays on hold until the 72 hours have passed and every dispute on the trip is decided. 7Degreez's decision settles the matter on the platform; it does not stop either party from pursuing their rights elsewhere.
8. Hosting
Listing a car. A car goes live only after your identity is approved and it has at least one photo. You set the price, rules, availability, pickup place, delivery radius, minimum driver age and cancellation policy, and you keep them accurate. You must have the right to rent the car out, and it must be registered and insured as the law requires.
Payouts. Hosts are paid through Stripe Connect. You set up a payout account on Stripe's own pages; Stripe collects your identity, bank and tax details, and those details are subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. For each completed trip you earn the booking (daily rate, less discounts, plus cleaning and delivery fees) less 7Degreez's commission, at the rate shown in your host dashboard, plus any return charges and approved dispute amounts. That share is sent to your Stripe balance once the trip's 72-hour dispute window has closed and every dispute is decided; Stripe pays it to your bank on Fridays. You are paid your share even if the Renter's card does not cover return charges or a dispute — collecting that is 7Degreez's responsibility.
Taxes. You are responsible for tax on what you earn. Stripe may issue tax forms (such as a 1099-K) where the law requires.
Removing a car. You can pause a car at any time. A car with trips on record can be unlisted but not deleted, because its trips, photos and payouts must stay on record.
9. Protection plans
At checkout the Renter picks one of three protection plans:
| Plan | Damage deductible | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $1,500 | Liability to the state minimum; no loss-of-use cover |
| Standard | $500 | 24/7 roadside assistance; loss of use covered |
| Premier | $0 | Roadside and tyre cover; minor exterior wear forgiven |
10. Conduct, reviews, messages and your account
Conduct. Don't misrepresent yourself or a car, arrange trips or payments outside 7Degreez, harass anyone, or use the Service for anything unlawful.
Messages. Each trip has its own chat between Host and Renter. 7Degreez operators may read trip messages when handling a dispute, a safety report or a legal request.
Reviews. After a trip both sides can review each other. A review stays hidden until both have written theirs, or until the review window closes, so neither can answer the other's. Reviews must be honest and about the trip; we may remove ones that break these Terms.
Suspension. We may suspend an account that breaks these Terms or puts others at risk. A suspended account cannot book, and its cars are removed from search. Operator decisions are recorded in an audit log.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account in the app once you have no open trips and no undecided disputes. If you have never taken or hosted a trip, the account is deleted. If you have, it is anonymised: your name becomes "Deleted user", your email, phone, photo, birth date, saved card details and sign-in are removed, and your cars are unlisted. Trip, payment and review records stay, because the other party and the law rely on them.
11. Liability, disputes with 7Degreez and the rest
Disclaimers. The Service is provided "as is". 7Degreez does not guarantee a car's condition, a Host's or Renter's conduct, or that the Service will always be available.
Limitation of liability. To the extent the law allows, 7Degreez is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and its total liability to you is limited to the fees 7Degreez received from you in the 12 months before the claim.
Indemnity. You will cover 7Degreez's losses from your breach of these Terms or your use of a car.
Disputes with 7Degreez. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
Changes. We may change these Terms; we will tell you in the app or by email before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new Terms.
